System Architecture
CSM has two main components: IDX CSM module, which is a module that interfaces a PROFICore PROFIBUS hardware interface to the real-time data transport provider, IDX CSM Control Centre, which provides a User Interface for viewing the status of the monitored networks. It is possible to add as many CSM instances in any permutation to as site and still view all of the instances from one Control Centre. The IDX CSM module performs the packet analysis and statistics data generation for any stations it detects on the PROFIBUS network. All these statistics (currently over 60 tags per device plus network status tags) are exposed as tags, via IDX, into any real-time system, such as OPC, TCP/IP, and also, most importantly, a history service which can range from text files, a SQL server or the IDX Historian.
