System Overview
CSM PROFIBUS is a totally unique PROFIBUS network monitoring solution. Unlike traditional PROFIBUS tools which are usually used temporarily
to diagnose faults, CSM is designed to be permanently connected to one or more networks. The biggest advantage of this is that the tool
is design to analyse networks over time, which is one of the most invaluable aspects a fault-finding and troubleshooting a PROFIBUS network. If combined
with a historical data store such as a historian or database, CSM becomes a powerful auditing and maintenance tool.
Some benefits of CSM for PROFIBUS:
- Minimise time required for PROFIBUS network commissioning and fault remediation.
- Maximize PROFIBUS network availability
- Automatic self configuration requiring no end-user programming.
- Provides detailed information on network and device performance in easy-to-use manner.
- Low cost of ownership through simple installation and low maintenance
- Scalable from one network to many
- Quickly alert maintenance staff via email, SMS and other methods when network faults occur.
The main features of CSM for PROFIBUS include:
- A highly configurable monitoring service that can deliver monitored data into nearly any real-time data system.
- CSM is centered on the robust and industry-proved IDX core.
- A user-friendly Graphical User Monitoring Interface that allows site-wide CSM monitoring to be summarized and viewed from a single workstation.
- Detailed network information, statistics and reports, site-wide, can all be obtained through a single application.
- Since CSM uses the standard OPC data transport mechanism, it is simple to import selected information into SCADA or any other system to present operators with critical network information, with or without the use of CSM Control Center.
- Network traffic and alert logging with configurable event triggering and filtering.
- Manufacturer-independent system - no additional PLC programming required - CSM can be connected onto any PROFIBUS network.
- Totally passive system. CSM uses an industry-proven packet detection interface which does not interfere with bus operation.
- On-the-fly device detection and data transport tag creation.
- Automatic network change detection which is automatically reflected in CSM Control Centre™.
- Network fault and failure corrective action reporting that operators and on-the-ground personnel can understand and act on immediately.
- Support for obtaining physical network information from Siemens Diagnostic Repeaters, iFM ASi Gateways, or any other specific device on PROFIBUS networks (custom device diagnostics interpretation added on request).
- Remote monitoring over dedicated links or the Internet over secure VPN connections.
- Secure, independent network monitoring and response by IDXOnline or affiliated partners, to ensure your industrial network stays healthy and minimizes costly downtime.
- A compact, robust hardware platform optimized to run CSM.
Due to its component-based architecture, CSM allows for a broad range of application scope:
- Since IDX CSM is a module in IDX, it allows the data gathered by IDX CSM to be transported via and into all varieties of real-time data systems. This includes, for example, historians, ERP systems and SCADAs.
- CSM consists of an IDX service core (IDX CSM Module), data transport (OPC) and presentation layer (IDX CSM Control Centre™). Only the service core is a requirement for system integrators and/or developers that wish to present only specific information or wish to incorporate that information natively into a site SCADA application.
- Additional system monitoring functions can be combined, for example, CSM for Windows Performance Monitor can also be used to monitor critical server CPU and memory usage.
