How does it work?
IDX Tag Manager connects to a source system and gathers real-time element (tag) configuration data at an API level using remote server agents on a supported source or target system server. These agents feed the configuration data back to the IDX Tag Manager server without requiring a full installation of IDX on the source or target servers. Sources and/or targets can be dynamically added or removed as required to manage configurations as systems change.

Collected data is mapped into a common IDX format on the IDX server and then can be included, excluded and converted based on a transformation filter system. It is often required, for example, that only a subset of data be synchronised or perhaps the tag element name needs to be updated to include a particular target system prefix. IDX Tag Manager provides a powerful script-based filter system that allows for unrestricted filtering capability. Once filters are setup, they can be reused indefinitely and even exported and imported to other IDX servers where similar management requirements exist.

The IDX Tag Manager is based on a state-aware data engine that records all data collected, converted and exported. This provides immediate and long term benefits as it allows current and previous data states to be compared at any time and also provides a change history log, whose state can be reverted if required. This means, configuration data can be easily analysed for changes between source and potential target systems, allowing only the changes, for example, to be updated in the target.
