How does it work?
IDX Data Exchange utilises a modular design that allows maximum flexibility and interface isolation. IDX is built as a kernel service surrounded by driver interface modules.
The IDX kernel operates much like a high performance telephone exchange switching data in a generic IDX format across multiple attached interfaces, or driver modules. The driver modules handle the specifics of converting data from the IDX generic format to the format of the interfaced system.
The modularity of the system allows interface modules to be stopped and started independently at any time and the kernel allows for on-the-fly configuration such that the service core never needs to be halted when new real-time data elements are added or a new interface module is installed.
